double lobe piercing on a child's ears with blue opals in implant grade titanium
FIRST PIERCINGS

Piercing Children's Lobes

A child's first piercing is a major milestone in their development and the procedure can have a lasting impact on them.
It's important to ensure the piercer you choose is going to give them a positive experience and a safe piercing that they can enjoy forever.

Informed Assesnt

As children can't legally give consent (this is your job!) we want their assent. This is an affermative, voluntary agreement of the procedure based on their level of understanding after being given information in an age-appropriate way.
This is the most important thing when it comes to having your child's ears pierced.
We will speak to your child to ensure they are fully informed in a way they will understand, giving them control over the situation and helping everything feel more comfotable for them.
It's important their assesnt is given freely without any pressure or coercion and they can withdraw it at any time.
This is their experience and as such it should be geared towards them, their autonomy is important.

Safe Procedures

Safety is absolutely paramount when doing any piercing, but when you're choosing to have your kid's ears pierced you want to be sure they're in safe hands.
All our procedures are done with sterile, single use piercing needles. This is the safest method for piercings. We do not believe guns/machines/cartridge systems are ever appropriate.
We follow all the same protocols doing children's lobes as we do while performing more complex piercings on adults.

Budget Friendly

We want to make safe piercings accessible to all.
We believe it's important to have a sensible budget for your children's piercings is important without you having to compromise on safety and quality.
A pair of ear lobe piercings starts at as little as £90, including plain implant grade titanium jewellery.
Most children are picking from our titanium gem range which sits at £110 for the pair.

What You Can Do To Prepare

It's important to help your child feel comfortable before their piercing.

Keep calm and be positive, children mimic the emotions of their parents so an anxious parent = an anxious child.
Over reassuring them or bribing them can make them feel as though there is something to be worried about, so keep reassurances simple and infrequent.
Their piercing day should be special, let them feel in control. Let them talk to us, let them pick jewellery, etc. All of this will help their confidence.
Remember not to make them feel bad if today ends up not being the day. This happens and it's important they are ready. Pre-piercing nerves can be horrible (even for us!) and there are going to be times when we decline the service if we don't believe it's right for the child at that moment.
If this is the case we can use the appointment as a "get to know us" service. We can show the child around, help them pick jewellery and answer their questions. With the pressure off they will often change their minds and get them done or come back another day with renewed confidence.

Don't forget all the I.D documentation we will require. It's important and without it we cannot perform the piercings. This can be super disappointing for everyone.
We require photo identification for both the parent/guardian and the child. The easiest option for kids is their passport.
