Performing a piercing safely is more than just the tools and jewellery we use. There is so much that goes into our set up and procedure to ensure the safety of all our clients.
We were one of the first fully disposable piercing studios
worldwide.
This means that everything used for a client is used only
for them and then disposed of fully. Many studios reprocess
their tools between clients and when done properly this is a
perfectly safe option, but, when done improperly it can lead
to cross contamination between clients. And the line between
properly and improperly is a thin one.
We strongly believe that each client should get an entirely
new, 100% sterile set up for their procedure to remove this
risk entirely.
Mike has taught classes on the benefits of utilising a fully
dispoable piercing procedure at both the UKAPP conference
here in England and the APP conference in the USA.
Aseptic technique is cruicial to prevent the transfer of
microorganisms from the patient, the environment, or
equipment, and to reduce the risk of infection.
This involves using sterile equipment, sterile barriers
(gloves and drapes) and following thorough hand hygiene.
We follow a strict aseptic technique in all piercing
procedures and sterilise all of our set up in a top of the
range SciCan Statim Autoclave.
We use two top of the range Statim cassette autoclaves.
These work by rapidly converting a small amount of distilled
water into steam within a steam generator, injecting it into
a cassette holding instruments. This steam flushes out air
and sterilises the instruments at high temperatures, a
process repeated to ensure consistent heat and air removal.
After sterilization, a built-in air compressor uses
filtered, dry air to rapidly dry and cool the instruments
inside the closed cassette, preventing recontamination and
speeding up the cycle.
We only use the finest, single use piercing needles for all of our procedures.
These allow us to ensure our piercing procedures are as smooth and trauma free as possible, minimising discomfort and maximising healing.
Mike & Daniel are both proud members of the Association of
Professional Piercers and the United Kingdom Association of
Professional Piercers
These are both non-profit organisations that aim to spread health
and safety awareness in regards to body piercing for both piercers
and clients
To become members of these organisations it means our studio has
to meet certain minimum guidlines as well as requirements on
jewellery used, processes followed and sterility.
Members are also required to have up to date First Aid training
and Bloodborne pathogen training.
